If we adopt a "Nishkama Karma" approach to whatever we do, we simply are present in our totality in what we do & enjoy doing it! In other words, we do our best not bothering about positive or negative outcomes or contingencies.After all no body can do better than their best!
That doesn't mean that one should not have a Plan"B" for contingencies.What is important is that such effort on Plan "B" should not be at the cost of your best efforts on Plan "A" & it should be merged with the execution of Plan "A".One should also remember that the negativity involved in preparing the contingency plan can influence our mind & thus affect execution of our efforts of Plan "A".It is this consciousness about one's own mind which is sought to be developed by practices like "Yoga" etc.This is how the "experiencer" (the mind)of the the "experienced" (doubts)can get absorbed in the experience (a "Nishkama Karma " approach to Plan"A")which keeps the mind fully engaged on Plan"A" leaving no space for doubts to arise in the mind.Thus the experience, the experienced & the experiencer merge!The results of such an effort cannot but be the best.This in fact is "Adwaitha" in a nutshell ! So enjoy your writing & become 'one' with it!

Superstitions are going to be there, till the world exists. Some, treat them as mere indicators, but some, attribute everything to it. As you said, as long as the linkage of cost and effect is beneficial, no harm in beleiving superstitions. Our minds have to take a call on this.

Good work. Hope getting lots of time now!!!!
Keep writing. Be yourself. Dont worry too much. Follow a simple theory in life. In matters, where you have absolutely no control, dont brood over, just watch and allow them to happen. One has lot of things to worry but only a few memories, events, thoughts to cherish/feel happy. Search for them and enjoy.

Anyone who has read & understood the "Power of Positive Thinking" or books of that ilk will know that the subconscious mind influences one's actions.And these superstitions work similarly on one's subconscious minds to influence one's actions negatively to create the "expected" negative results!This leads to more conviction about the superstitions resulting in their perpetuation & propagation!

If one develops the curiosity about "Atma Jnana" & "Atma Bodha" one will become conscious of the "working" of these superstions.The "doomsday cat" cannot be set among the "peaceful pigeons" ie.the calm minds in such realised souls!

Excellent. Where is the 'double cool' button?. Wonderful how the central theme is retained throughout so objectively. I think it comes to us with the years, when we learn to moderate science with pure wonder, when we look at everything around fairly; one eye in total surrender, the other one seeking meaning in the former's blind acceptance of things.

More importantly, I love the writer's freedom that you unknowingly establish in your words; it perfectly nestles there in your sentence. -

Only when the "HIS" is given the "miss",history ceases to become "mystery" & hence un interesting!!!When you see histoty as "HIS" story, the joy is everlasting!!!It is good that the bad done by the Mcaulays of yesterday who destroyed India's "Gurukula System" & with it the "Indian heritage" is being undone by the newer generation Englishmen like Mr.Michael Woods.

Sankaracharya did traverse the country for his "Digvijaya" & we do have glimpses of our hoary past in the Mahakavyas of the past, the scriptures,the Vedas,the Upanishads,the Shastras etc though not in the formal "history" format.It is a pity that the younger generation dismisses all these as just old grandma's tale - pre judging that it will be as boring as history.Little do they realise that the taste of the pudding is in its eating!!!After all everything is the story of finding "who am I" & "I" am interesting to each one of us !!!---Hari
